The Thermo Fisher EPD MK2+ Personal Electronic Dosimter is a Gamma, Beta and X-Ray Radiation Dosimeter. This small robust and light weight Personal Electronic Dosimeter is suitable dose accumulation applications in the energy range from 15keV to 10MeV for Gamma, Beta and X-Ray sources.
Thermo Fisher Scientific’s dosimetry solutions are in use at dosimetry processing centres, nuclear power plants, government and military establishments, research laboratories and medical facilities worldwide. Suitable for use as a single stand-alone dosimeter or as part of a comprehensive dosimetry management system, the EPD Mk2+ detects and measures Beta, Gamma and X-Ray radiation. The detected radiation is then processed to give an indication of penetrating dose, superficial dose and the dose rates. This information is subsequently displayed to the user via an LCD display on the top of the unit. Thermo EPD Mk2+ can be a single stand-alone dosimeter or part of a comprehensive dosimetry management system, such as webREMS or ViewPoint Enterprise.
The unit is powered by a single standard AA cell, either 1.5V alkaline or 3.6V Lithium Thionyl Chloride for maximum battery life. Pre-use integrity checks may be initiated over the IR (Infra-Red) communications link as part of the EPD Issue process of access control or dosimetry management systems. These checks include detector tests, battery test and battery voltage read. Display and function are controlled by a single button on the front of the unit, recessed to prevent inadvertent operation.
